The main goal of the Center for Diploma Studies (CDS) is not merely to produce students who are knowledgeable but CDS also takes the initiative to produce quality students not only with a diploma but also be competitive in the aspect of creation and innovation.

In line with that aspirationit is proved by the success of a student won the Inclusive Innovation Challenge 2018 (North Zone) which was held on 4 to 6 September 2018. The competition was organized by Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia in collaboration with SME Corporation. Mohamad Shairil Rezman from Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering program has brought challenges through its innovative product called 'Hybrid Assistant Wheelchair', under the supervision of Mr Ts. Erdy Sulino. He won the Second Prize in the category of public, then crowned as Champion North Zone (Special Award) and took home a cash prize of RM3,000 and the Special Award trophy and certificate of participation.

Awards received by Khairil Mohamad are the starting point of the contributions and benefits that could be utilized from his product where it can help the disabled and wheelchair users to facilitate their day-to-day affairs. As a result, 5 Hybrid Assistant Wheelchair orders were received from the user. It is hoped that student success is a stimulus to other students and supervisors to continue to innovate in producing a quality product.
